Time to move on.

By Saturos on Apr 30, 2009 | In team | 4 feedbacks »

Recently I realised that I just dont have enough time for BZ anymore. Playing the game doesn't just keep me away from more important stuff, it even does damage to things that are very important for me. Therefore I'll stop playing BZ competitively. Reading the admin forum cant hurt, neither can stopping buy on a server for a bit, but I'll stop trying to be one of the best players of the league, because it just puts too much pressure on me. You might not even see me on the servers for quite some time.
This has nothing to do with the attitude in the league or how it has changed over the years. The reason is not my teammates either, I couldnt imagine a group of people with which spending time is more fun. It's more that I have changed and maybe grown out of this game.
This isnt meant to be a farewell post. Maybe I'll play a funmatch from time to time or we'll do a LAN sometime, but I won't be playing everyday like I have for the past five years.

Thanks for the great time, this is one of the best communities out there. I'm glad I got to know you all. Good luck and have fun, for each and everyone of you. :)

Since phago got sort of inactive I decided to invest a part of my time in the ducati league and opened a team for new/weak players:

Some news II

By Saturos on Feb 17, 2009 | In team, reallife, miscellaneous | Send feedback »

Hey guys,
time to post about some stuff that happened recently:

• Dexter is back, again. Welcome buddy, add your box under "Player Info" please. :p

• Bachi is taking a two-months trip to Chile, so he wont be able to play for quite some time.

• SAMY turns 17 tomorrow, so make sure to wish him all the best if you see him on the servers!

• I dropped my new Deathadder and returned to the Diamondback 3G, feels much better, much more precise, much more DEADLY. :>

• We got a new team picture on guleague.org, which marks the 30th teamlogo since phago was founded (yep, I stored them all). Sounds like its time to put them all online somewhere, so one can see all of them again.

• Remind me to update the guleague activity graph! I already got an up to date image, just need to upload it.

• Just finished the new header image, I had the feeling its time for a fresh look. Looks a bit wrong though... I'm not entirely sure if the orange/dark-red combination is really incongruous or if its just me being used to the old image. Time will tell - and your feedback!

• Last but not least Carnage has made a very informative video about the relatively new teleporter pass, so in case you dont know how to perform it yet:

Although I find the term "hax pass" a little inappropriate and misleading, thank you very much for the video, this is great for newer players who want to get into GU.

Oh, and I havent forgotten about the "teams that made guleague what it is"-post, just didnt get around to write it yet. Was busy matching, I guess.

Some news

By Saturos on Jan 31, 2009 | In team, miscellaneous | Send feedback »

The semester in Germany is drawing to a close and I gotta write lots of exams these weeks... thats why we havent been on the servers lately (pretty much since the RikerCup), which is sad, but inevitable. I'll try to be back after the 11th of February, because I'm really missing the matches with most of you. :) Played a great one with ForestForce today and really enjoyed it. However, dexter left phago again, I guess mainly because we're too inactive... no clue if he'll come back again, but he seems happy with Redux for now.
Besides these bad news, we have something good in stock, too: Happy birthday benji 18!
Hoping you have a good one! :)

phago nostalgia

Since it was phago's 4th birthday on the 21st (\o/), I thought I'd take some time to talk about the my position in the team and what I've experienced in phago.

Joining phago was basically a dream come true. At that time (it's gotten a lot better :D) I was pretty obsessed with BZFlag (GU). I mean.. crazy about it. There were times when I couldn't wait 'til I got home so I could match. I'd basically be online 24/7, which is one of the reasons why I have about 100 days of online time since starting GU. I always admired phago, even when I didn't know much about them. Whenever I saw Saturos or benji 13 (only ones who talked :D) online I'd immediately start talking to them. About one year ago I talked to Satu on Skype for the first time. Even though we barely knew each other we talked about different things for almost an hour. The proceeding couple of weeks I got closer to benji and we finally we decided to meet. We walked around town for 3 hours while ben mostly told me about phago and the things he had experienced. I was thrilled and expressed my obvious interest in joining. About a month after that, in march, I was invited to phago. Read the full story after the jump!

Two days ago, on 21st of January 2009, [phagozytose] turned four years old! Being the sixth team that was made in guleague, this implies that guleague also turned four.
So much has happened during these years and its impossible to write about everything... but I’ll try to remember as much as possible, to bring back memories for veterans and give a little history-lesson for newer players.

It's great to be back in Berlin! The train ride was looong (12 hours) and exhausting but it was definitely worth it. SAMY and Satu came to meet us at the track and we took the bus home. Been a very relaxed evening with some bzf:54 action and two very fun matches vs ICF!
We spent an hour or so setting up Satu's MacBook Pro for benji, since he wasn't able to bring his own PC. Seems that we've been able to get down similar settings on the Mac so that ben will be able to play on it the next couple of days. Getting very late now, so I'm off to bed! Stay tuned..I'm hoping we'll have at least one post every day if not more reporting live from Berlin. :D

P.S.: I'm betting our activity will hit 4.00

ben and dex arrived

Yays! Just got home from the train station, together with benji and dex. We just ate some asian food, right now dex and samy are in the kitchen, having an animated discussion about soccer. I should really go to bed soon but maybe we can get a quick match before.

LAN

By benji 13 on Dec 27, 2008 | In team | Send feedback »

Today dexter packed his laptop and his mouse and got into the train. Now we're doing a kind of pre-Lan, tomorrow we'll take the train to Berlin for the main-Lan. Unfortunately due to lag problems we haven't been able to play many matches yet.
